Visiting the Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, TN, is a bucket-list adventure for any whiskey lover. As one of the most iconic and successful whiskey brands world-wide, the distillery draws visitors from all over the globe. One of the charms of the distillery is that it is off the beaten path. Lynchburg is about a 90-minute drive from Nashville, and ride share services like Lyft and Uber aren’t really an option.
Many Nashville visitors choose to book their Jack Daniel’s Distillery Tour through Tennessee Whiskey Tours. We offer bus tours from downtown Nashville to Lynchburg, TN, and we make all the tour arrangements for you in advance.
Here are 9 things to expect when you book a Jack Daniel’s Distillery Bus Tour with Tennessee Whiskey Tours.
1. Prompt and Convenient Pickup in Downtown Nashville
We offer our Jack Daniel’s Distillery Bus Tour daily at 9am, with a second tour leaving at 12pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Our buses pick up in downtown Nashville right next to the Omni Hotel. If you are standing in front of Bob’s Steak & Chop House, you are in the right spot! Our buses pull up about 10-15 minutes before the departure time and start loading up.
Pro Tip: Our pickup address is 250 Rep. John Lewis Way S. However, some GPS systems will direct you to the Drury Plaza Hotel instead. Remember, our pickup spot is at the Omni Hotel, in front of Bob’s Steak & Chop House.
If you are driving to the pickup spot, there is paid public parking throughout the area. Also, if you need to park or plan to take a ride-share to the pickup spot, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early in case there is traffic.
2. Comfortable Transportation to the Jack Daniel’s Distillery
We want you to feel comfortable, which is why we keep our fleet of vehicles well-maintained and comfy. The exact type of vehicle will vary depending on the size of the group that day, but expect a nice, air conditioned bus or van. One important thing to note; there are no restrooms on the bus. There are nice facilities right inside the hotel, so we suggest taking advantage of those before departure.
Pro Tip: While we are not allowed to serve alcoholic beverages on the bus, adults are more than welcome to BYOB. Just, ya know, be cool about it and clean up after yourself. We don’t want to make you hitchhike back to Nashville.
Will our group sit together on the bus?
We do everything we can to make sure your group can sit together on the bus. That being said, the seating is first come, first serve. Everyone who has a ticket will get a seat, but if you have a large group and want to make sure you are sitting together, arriving early is suggested.
3. A Friendly Greeting and Clear Instructions
Upon arrival at the Jack Daniel’s Distillery, our guests are greeted by Jack Daniel’s staff and assigned their distillery tour time. We have standing tour reservations at the distillery, and, depending on our number of guests, some folks will go on tours straight away and others will get to explore Lynchburg first. Your driver and the Jack Daniel’s staff will make sure you know where to go.
Pro Tip: If you have booked the 11am reservation at Miss Mary Bobo’s, this is when you will want to let your driver know. They will make sure you are put on one of the later distillery tour times, giving you plenty of time to eat lunch beforehand!
When you arrive at the distillery, your driver will let you know when and where to meet the bus to head back to Nashville at the end of your experience.
4. The Jack Daniel’s Distillery Visitor Center
The history of Jack Daniel’s begins right when you walk into the Jack Daniel’s visitor center. The whole building is essentially a museum exhibit showing off the history of Jack Daniel’s. You will definitely want to look around a bit before your tour. There are also restroom facilities inside.
Pro Tip: There is often a booth open in the Jack Daniel’s Visitor Center where you can purchase your own custom engraved bottle of Jack Daniel’s. If this interests you, you will want to start the process BEFORE taking your distillery tour. It can take a little time, and you don’t want to miss your departure.
You will also want to check out the White Rabbit Bottle Shop, which is connected to the Jack Daniel’s Distillery visitor center. This is where you can pick up some bottles of whiskey to take home. They carry a variety of Jack Daniel’s products, and sometimes stock harder to find releases as well.
5. An incredible Jack Daniel Distillery Tour
The Jack Daniel Distillery Tour is truly an incredible experience, whether you are a whiskey lover or just there for the history and entertainment. It is one of the largest distilleries in the world, and the tour lasts about an hour and forty-five minutes. You will learn about the history of the distillery, the art of whiskey making, and what sets Tennessee whiskey apart from bourbon.
There are portions of the tour that are indoors and outdoors, and they operate rain or shine. So dress accordingly! Purses and small bags are fine, but they do not allow backpacks or other large bags on the tour.
6. Amazing sites and photo-ops
You won’t just hear about it, you will see the production process firsthand! On the tour, your guide will show you how the whiskey is made, walk you to the natural spring where the water is sourced, and show you inside the historic Jack Daniel Distillery office. You will also see the charcoal filtration process that makes Tennessee whiskey so unique.
7. A Guided Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Tasting
This is what you’ve been waiting for, right?? At the end of your distillery tour, you will be led through a sampling of six of the best-selling Jack Daniel’s products. They try to have a little something for everyone and usually include some of their single barrel products as well as flavored whiskies. The selection changes from time to time, but they offer a good variety.
8. Lunch & Leisure in Lynchburg
For those folks who book our 9am Jack Daniel’s Distillery Bus Tour, you will have some time to explore and get a bite to eat in historic downtown Lynchburg. The town square is a short 5-minute walk from the Jack Daniel’s visitor center. Like we mentioned earlier, this portion of your day will occur either before or after your distillery tour.
There are shops, restaurants, and attractions in downtown Lynchburg. We highly recommend Barrelhouse BBQ, home of the #1 grilled cheese in Tennessee, or Southern Perks cafe for a sandwich or hot beverage. There are also multiple shops where you can purchase Jack Daniel’s memorabilia, clothing, and other souvenirs.
Here is a list of some of our other recommendations.
9. Back in Nashville in Time for a Night Out
Meet the bus back at the time and location your driver specified at drop off, and we will head back to Nashville. We usually get back to the pickup spot by 4:30pm, in time for you to head out for a night on the town!
By booking your Jack Daniel’s Distillery Tour with Tennessee Whiskey Tours, we will make the entire process fun, easy, and memorable. We handle all the reservations and responsibilities, so all you’ll need to do is get on the bus!
