 FAQs

  • Jack Daniel’s is a Tennessee whiskey. Tennessee whiskey must follow the same requirements for bourbon, meaning it must be a distilled spirit that uses at least 51% corn in the mash bill, it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels, and it must be bottled at a proof point of at least 80. What separates Tennessee whiskey from bourbon is that, prior to barreling, Tennessee whiskey is filtered through sugar maple charcoal. This filtration is known as the “Lincoln County Process,” named after the county where that originally contained the Jack Daniel Distillery.

  • The Jack Daniel Distillery is located in Lynchburg, TN, about 80 miles from Nashville. It takes about 90 minutes to get to Jack Daniel’s from downtown Nashville. If you don’t plan to drive yourself, it is highly recommended to take a bus tour like those offered by Tennessee Whiskey Tours.

  • The Jack Daniel Distillery is located in Lynchburg, TN. When the distillery first opened, it was contained in Lincoln County, TN. However, in 1871 the county lines were redrawn, and the distillery is now located in Moore County.

  • Yes! Although Moore County is technically a “dry” county, guests are allowed to sample and purchase liquor at the Jack Daniel Distillery. Connected to the Jack Daniel’s Visitor Center, guests can make purchases at the White Rabbit Bottle Shop, where they regularly stock Old No. 7, Gentleman Jack, Jack Daniel’s Bottle in Bond, and the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel - Barrel Proof offerings.
